Some sense the optimism of the 1920s. Some fear the struggles of the 1930s. Others press with the power of the 1960s. Whatever your viewpoint, Mae & Pearl wants to help you look good.
There are endless t-shirt styles, and the choice of how you like it to fit is very personal. However, we at Mae & Pearl have a few general rules when it comes to picking the right one for you.
How should it fit?
There is a fine line to walk when it comes to size. You don't want it so loose it looks like a tent or makes you look like a skeleton swimming around in a sheet. You also don't want it so tight that you are bulging out in unflattering places.
Look for a shoulder seam to fall right where your shoulder ends. Even better, opt for a raglan sleeve. Raglan sleeves have a seam that goes diagonally from the pit of the arm to the collar creating the illusion of broader shoulders and a bigger chest. For short-sleeves, have them stop about midpoint of your upper arm. The bottom hem should fall about an inch below your waistband so you don't flash belly or butt crack when you bend over.
Opt for athletic fit or vintage fit, if you are in shape. A boxy t-shirt is rarely flattering. A more fitted silhouette is well worth the extra $.50 or so it might cost. However, if you want to hide a few things, a heavier fabric or a looser fit can help. Flowy, viscose fabrics to help camouflage any areas you'd rather not emphasize.
What type of collar?
Crewneck collars tend to make you look broader. V-necks are more slimming. So choose according to your goal. Be careful if you have a belly. Although a v-neck is slimming, it also draws the eye downward toward that gut.
What fabric is best?
We typically recommend ringspun cotton. Cotton is already the choice for softness, breathability and static resistance. Combed ringspun cotton enhances that soft, smooth feel. Adding synthetic fibers like polyester and rayon will make it less soft, but also reduce wrinkling and shrinkage. Also, the more synthetic the blend, the less moisture it will absorb. Are recommendation is triblend fabrics. Typically, these are a blend of ringspun cotton, rayon and polyester to create a soft shirt that always keeps its shape. Viscose and bamboo are other great fabrics to try for a silkier texture.
What about color?
Color often depends on your design and trends, but there are some general considerations for choosing a color that works for everyone. White is a great classic color that makes your design pop, though it can be somewhat see-through and show dirt and stains easily. Bold colors like navy, red and green look good on most people. Grey is nice, too, but shows armpit sweat more than other colors. Black is a popular choice, but it's pretty harsh. Not everyone can pull off black.
Stay cool in the stadium with sheer fabrics and lots of ventilation. Start with our "AY BATTA BATTA" sheer tee from Mae & Pearl. Also, shop online at Skyz Boutique, a local traveling boutique.
Frankly, in Atlanta, they give a damn. Rhett and Scarlett have kept all their charms even while embracing their ultra urban environment. Atlanta is a cosmopolitan hub for many of the surrounding beautifully rural areas where sushi is still called bait. Class abounds in Atlanta. The Southern Belles use their feminine guile with great sophistication. The debonair male counterparts could charm the spots off a leopard. If you want to keep up, you might consider the following wardrobe recommendations.
Sweet sophistication starts with our boatneck Love Always t-shirt. $15 on our webstore We like it with the Fellini Pegged Pencil Skirt ($185), shown to us by our Atlanta tour guide and Et Cetera consultant, Laurie Burlington.
Laurie introduced us to a wonder pair of stores bearing the names of owners Ann and Sid Mashburn. They have an incredible curation of fashion that epitomizes the sophistication and charm of Atlanta.
At Ann Mashburn, we found the Slingback Pump for $425 and the gorgeous Lizzie Fortunato jewelry line. We chose the Morocco Column Earrings ($195) and the Agate Tassel Necklace ($250) for this outfit and reminding us of a certain curtain dress.
We found the best bag at Céline. It's the Phantom Handbag for $3,400. We especially love the classic short handles and leather tassels.
Sid Mashburn has an incredible selection of trousers and all things gentlemanly. We chose our Eco-Jersey Feeder Stripe Polo with a small "See The Good" icon on the side chest. It looks great with the Sid Mashburn Dress Trouser in Tan Heather ($275). We love the Penny Loafers in British Tan ($450) and the Conroy Belt ($495).
Welcome to The Good Life.
Omaha offers a city atmosphere surrounded by field and stream. It's hailed as a great place to raise a family and start a business. It has a lower cost of living, less hectic pace and all four seasons, though, it seems of all the seasons, Omaha's energy is at it's highest in the Fall.
The Cornhusker State starts talking football well before the change of any leaf or the first school bell. In fact, the passion for pigskin goes on throughout the year, culminating in the Saturday treks to Memorial Stadium in Lincoln, making the Stadium the 2nd most populous place in the state and creating the famous Sea of Red.
In addition to football fever, crisp air and colorful foliage, Omaha is home to both Vala's Pumpkin Patch and Scary Acres...two incredible amusement parks dedicated to celebrating different aspects of the season.
So whether you are heading to game or bonfire, we've got you covered with what to wear in Omaha.

Aspen entertains the celebrity and executive outdoor enthusiasts. Set amidst, breath-taking mountain views and some of the best ski slopes in the world are top-notch resorts and restaurants and a fashion scene all its own. It's a place to see and be seen.
Aspen fashion is luxurious if anything, but out of necessity, its function is never lost...stay warm. In addition, Aspen doesn't forget it's Western roots with fur, leather and denim. You may find yourself changing several times a day as you go from slopes to aprés ski to formal.
With so many great boutiques to choose from, here are Mae & Pearl's suggestions of incorporating your Love Always wear into Aspen fashion.
The base of this outfit is our Love Always Locker Room Pullover by Alternative. We chose Eco-Ivory with the golden yellow "See the Good" message, which you can buy at our online store for $31.

Finally, we felt like we struck gold at Gorsuch with the Marla Fox Bag for $2,100 and the Delia Boot for $828.
Guys can have just as much fun with Aspen fashion. We channeled hipster cowboy with this look. We started with our Love Always Feeder Stripe Long-Sleeve Crew-neck T-shirt from Alternative in Ec0-Military Green. Buy it at our online store for only $24.90.
We layered that with the Crosby Green Vest from Gorsuch, a favorite for guy finds...providing us with the gorgeous Cavallo Horses Belt for $448 and also the Otis Hiker Boots for $430.

Surround yourself in Southern hospitality. Stroll along the riverfront. Soak in the culture of the downtown art scene and pockets of art communities throughout the city. Let your hair down at a honky tonk.
This bohemian prairie cowgirl look captures the romance and heritage of this darling city while celebrating the artistry that makes it the cultural center that it is.
The base of the outfit is a flirty short dress. We've chosen our Flowy V-neck Dress by Bella for $31.
We pair this with the Nashville staple....cowboy boots. The Shyanne Daisy Mae Boots are available at Boot Barn in Nashville and online for $200.

We like the polished ruggedness that a lot of guys carry off in Nashville. We chosen a Boss V-neck T-shirt by Alternative in Ec0-True Military for $21 from our Mae & Pearl web store. While still a t-shirt, it's a little more stylish with the v-neck and thoughtful because it's made with recycled and organic fabrics.
To continue this casual look, we selected Distressed Eagle Inlay Western Boots from Boot Barn for $255 and Ariat's M7 Slim Fit Boot Cut Jeans for $80 also at Boot Barn.

We keep it macho without going full-cowboy with the Acme Trucker Hat from one of our favorite Nashville Honkey Tonks. You can buy it on their site at www.theacmenashville.com for $20.
Phoenix is a beautiful mix of Southwestern roots and conservative tastes. Equal parts passion for art as well as for outdoor adventure, the people of Phoenix are a well-rounded bunch who are as comfortable sipping wine at an art auction as they are hiking the trails.
So, come prepared to slip off your loafers and put on a pair of golf shoes or hiking boots, and don't forget your sun hat to protect yourself from the strong rays of the desert sun.
We wanted a dash of Southwestern flair as well as an appreciation of art while still remaining fairly conservative with this outfit for strolling around the many towns that make up the Phoenix Metro. We got lost in Tory Burch's Scottsdale boutique with so many great finds for the famously put-together Scottsdale woman. Tory's inspiring collection gave us the base of our outfit, the bold Stretch Wool & Silk Pant, available for $118.50.
We choose a minimalist shoe that's easy to slip on and off, but we love the wood grain heel of the Raya Mule also from Tory Burch for $350. Another great find celebrates the Pueblo Indian culture, the Kachina Doll Applique Bucket Bag for $850.
We chose subdued jewelry with a slight Southwestern feel in the matching Arrowhead Metal Drop Earrings for $122.50 and the Arrowhead Metal Pendant Necklace for $262.50.
The sun's rays are a little stronger in the Southwestern desert. So, we added a fun but functional Wide Brim Hat from Tory for $122.50.
A breezy Mae & Pearl Sleeveless Hooded Poncho completes the outfit reminding us to strive to be "Better Than Expected."
We noticed Phoenix guys tend to be a bit more casual than their female counterparts. So, we suggest Match Play Vented Shorts by Under Armour from GolfSmith for $69.99.
You'll find the Northland Camp Mocs for $175 take you easily from one outing to the other and look great with the coordinating Depew Ave Casual Belt for $88, both from Allen Edmonds.

Finally, protect your melon with the classic Bailey Casual Straw Fedora from Heritage Hats for $55.
Vegas has so much to offer that a trip there can be something different for each person. The quintessential Vegas trip, however, involves indulging in the entertainment along The Strip.
The eternal promise of Vegas is that whatever happens there will be kept under wraps. So, you see many there enjoying a life they don't otherwise live...acting out a role they normally don't play. This is portrayed in Vegas fashion. You can, and should, glam it up at all hours of this 24-hour city.
We suggest taking advantage of this opportunity to explore a more wild side of your wardrobe with the following pieces from our Love Always collection combined with pieces you can find along The Strip.
This outfit starts with our Flowy Open-back Tee by Bella + Canvas with a silver "Love Always" message on the front. You can buy the tee at our online store for $20.
